 Case Introduction

  Recently WAVE, a foreign R&D company dedicated to underwater safety systems, and MetaMotion have cooperated to develop an underwater wearable product based on advanced drowning detection technology. This product is dedicated to protecting your family using the world’s most advanced drowning detection technology. The product’s specific function is to monitor people’s real-time safety while swimming in the ocean, lakes, swimming pools, and so on.

  At MetaMotion we used a rapid tooling process to create a batch of this product’s exterior for WAVE, developing the project according to the customer’s specifications and fully meeting their requirements. The project used injection molding, injection molding is the injection of hot melted plastic material into the mold, and then cooled and cured to obtain the molding rapid prototyping method, plastic injection molding is considered to be one of the world’s fastest production process, very suitable for mass production. Once the initial cost of the mold has been paid, the price gets lower as more parts are produced.

  A mold tool is formed by two halves of a hollow metal block (core and cavity) into which melted plastic is injected to form a certain fixed shape, constituting all the geometric shapes and features of the hand model.

  Molds are usually made from materials such as aluminum or tool steel. Molds are usually more expensive to make but last longer, but the cost decreases as the number of rapid prototyping parts produced later in life increases.

  This can result in significant cost savings for our customers on small production runs, and with our proven process and testing technology, we are able to provide our customers with a product that is guaranteed to last.
